This role is responsible for developing and implementing a short and long-term strategic vision for the team through the development of an Agency Strategic Sales Plan which will outline how we intend to achieve agency distribution growth, productivity and profitability objectives.

How you will create an impact
  • Responsible for developing and expanding profitable agency distribution to sell all lines of Personal Insurance & Commercial products and for providing strategic direction and supervision to establish, expand, and develop distribution through intermediaries such as independent agencies, exempt Insurance Brokers, life agents and other face-to-face sales channels.
  • Collaborate with Personal Insurance & Commercial business lines to develop and execute joint strategies to achieve AIG Singapore’s growth and profitability goals in preferred market / industry segments. Establish and execute a vision for agency distribution channels aligned to local market conditions, and Personal Insurance /Commercial business lines objectives.
  • Gather market intelligence and monitor market developments by interacting directly with frontline sales management, agency producers and other means to identify areas to optimize AIG’s value proposition.
  • Develop and execute programs to recruit, grow active producers under management, and retain agency channels to achieve AIG Singapore’s GPW production, growth and profitability objectives.
  • Collaborate with Personal Insurance /Commercial business lines to develop and deliver a compelling value proposition and make improvements to AIG’s offerings to better meet the needs of agents and customers.
  • Ensure that field including NPS feedback is leveraged to continuously improve AIG Singapore’s competitive position; leverage data driven insights to actively manage and drive recruiting, activation and sales productivity, renewal/retention performance to achieve budgeted growth and profitability objectives.
  • Drive technology utilization to achieve producer automation, externalization, operational efficiency objectives.
  • Implement and manage effective Agency Business Standards and ‘first lines of defense’ to enforce adequate risk management and control of agents/agency business to meet AIG and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure sales managers and agents are in compliance with local insurance regulations and code of conduct requirements.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the team and ensuring that all areas of the operation are working in collaboration with one another to ensure maximum success. These key areas include: business development, recruitment, training & development, compliance, communications, and servicing support.
  • Good knowledge of financial aspects of agency distribution, including budgeting, revenue generation, direct and indirect expenses.
  • Actively contribute in the matters being discussed at the management committees where Chief Agency Officer is an invitee or a member, and where relevant provide inputs of the matters under Agency purview.
  • Promote employees development efforts to support and ensure proper identification of key talent, create development plans to shape the employees’ forward advancement and maintain management succession plans for all supervisory positions.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • Proven work experience with extensive understanding of agency distribution and financial management, analysis and profitability performance reporting.
  • Strong business strategy development, business analysis ability and execution across channels and platforms.
  • Strong analytical, communication and presentation skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical business groups across the organization.
  • High degree of professional confidence and credibility with effective presence, strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate concepts and plans that resonate with internal target audience at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to establish strong business relationships with internal partners across the business.
  • Good working knowledge managing financial aspects of the business including budgeting, sales revenue, direct and indirect expenses and portfolio/remediation management.
  • Strong knowledge of competitor or "best in class" functionality and a keen ability to prioritize tasks to deliver quick yet meaningful results.
  • An outcome-driven, creative thinker with an innovative bent to problem solving.
  • Mature and proven track record in working independently and collaboratively with minimal guidance.
  • Insurance and/or financial institution experience highly desired
