Chartering Manager (Handy and Supramax)

On behalf of our client, a ship owner/operator company with decades of experience in the maritime industry, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chartering Manager to join their newly established office in Singapore. Specializing in both Time and Voyage Chartering, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and expanding chartering activities, ensuring smooth operations, and contributing to the company’s growth in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage Time and Voyage Chartering activities for a fleet of vessels.
2. Negotiate charter contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring terms are favorable and aligned with company objectives.
3. Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Technical, and Commercial) to ensure seamless chartering operations.
4. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers, clients, and maritime partners.
5. Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify business opportunities and mitigate risks.
6. Ensure compliance with all relevant maritime regulations and company policies.
7. Provide regular market insights and reports to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
8. Manage performance, costs, and profitability of vessels under charter.
9. Act as a key point of contact for chartering queries and disputes.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. At least 5 years of experience in chartering, with a strong background in both Time and Voyage Chartering.
3. Proven track record of successful contract negotiations and vessel operations.
4. Strong understanding of maritime industry regulations and chartering practices.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
7. Fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
8. Knowledge of the regional market dynamics and commercial shipping landscape.
