Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor & Analyse market conditions, freight rates, develop and implement chartering strategies.
- Identify chartering opportunities for dry bulk vessels.
- Develop and implement chartering strategies to optimize fleet utilization and maximize profitability.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with clients, brokers, charterers and other stakeholders in the maritime industry.
- Negotiate charter agreements and contracts with ship owners, brokers, and clients to secure favorable terms.
- Good knowledge of market trends, tonnage and charter rates to optimise chartering opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry.
- Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure smooth execution of chartered voyages and address any issues that arise.
- Conduct performance review of chartered vessels and its economics.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with chartering activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Prepare regular reports on chartering activities, market conditions, and performance metrics for senior management.
- Lead and mentor junior chartering staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in ship chartering, particularly in the dry bulk market.
- Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of securing profitable charters.
- In-depth knowledge of market trends, freight rates, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of dry bulk markets, shipping logistics, and chartering agreements.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in market analysis and financial assessment to make informed decisions.
- Familiarity with chartering software and MS Office Suite.
- Strong leadership qualities, strategic mindset, and a results-driven approach.
