Position Overview

Details of the Division and Team:

Our Corporate Affairs & Strategy (CA&S) division is dedicated to bringing strategy and stakeholder engagement closer together, enhancing our ability to enable business and inform strategic decisions. CA&S consists of five functions with a global presence: Strategy & CEO Office, Communications & CSR, Government & Public Affairs (G&PA), Global Brand & Marketing, and Regulatory & Exam Management (REMG).

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic individual to further strengthen our Government & Public Affairs function in Asia Pacific (APAC) and support regional coordination of policy priorities.

This role serves as a key point of connectivity for DB regional stakeholders, the wider G&PA team, and external stakeholders, including key policy makers. The individual would be expected to collaborate closely with regional and global functions to ensure an holistic approach in line with the bank’s priorities and Hausbank strategy.

The individual will work as a strategic partner, contributing to cohesive and holistic stakeholder engagement strategies to support and strengthen the Bank’s relationships, with delivery through direct engagement, internal coordination and advising others on approach. The role requires a good understanding of global and APAC markets’ policy-making and priority financial services topics, connectivity with government / regulatory bodies in one or more APAC locations, experience of working with trade associations, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work effectively with teams across the Bank.

This role supports delivery of advocacy on policy areas of particular importance for the Bank's operations and strategy in the region and globally.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Partnering with relevant functions, ensuring the Bank's strategic objectives are served through constructive engagement with key external stakeholders.
  • Direct engagement with policy makers as appropriate plus proactive contributions to ensuring trade associations serve DB’s agenda.
  • Providing regular updates and guidance to regional and global stakeholders on the policy environment and outlook in the region, translating these and other relevant geopolitical/political developments into actionable advice where these present material opportunities or challenges.
  • Facilitating senior management engagement with key policy makers, including preparing briefings on key matters of mutual interest.
  • Identify key strategic advocacy topics and related developments and coordinate with local, regional and global stakeholders to effectively promote DB’s views directly and/or through industry forums (e.g. trade associations) in collaboration with industry peers.
  • Leading on one or two key policy areas (e.g. technology, data, sustainability).
  • Ensure that counterparts in other regions are equipped to share examples of positive approaches to policy making relevant to priority areas.
  • Within broader CA&S structure, engage with other relevant teams on critical matters (e.g. Strategy, Corporate Communications) and support broader divisional agenda.


Your skills and experience:

  • Overall more than 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience demonstrating knowledge of international regulatory landscape within or materially focused on APAC.
  • Evidence of managing diverse stakeholders to develop positions and deliver outcomes across an institution and involving different locations.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a strategic partner, contributing to cohesive and holistic stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Proven experience in complex international organisations, with a focus on stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment impacting financial services, policy making and geopolitical influences.
  • Exposure to APAC markets and ability to operate successfully in multi-cultural environment.
  • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable plans and follow through.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment


Role is required to be performed on-site at One Raffles Quay office. Relevant vaccination requirements may apply.
