Job Summary:

The Chairman will provide strategic leadership and governance oversight to steer the company’s growth, ensuring sustainable operations, compliance with environmental and regulatory standards, and value creation for stakeholders. The Chairman will act as the primary liaison between the Board, executive management, investors, and government bodies, upholding the highest standards of corporate governance.


Key Responsibilities

1. Board Leadership & Governance

  • Lead the Board in setting the company’s strategic direction, ensuring alignment with long-term goals in the mining industry.
  • Oversee governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with Singapore’s Companies Act, and international mining regulations.
  • Promote transparency, accountability, and ethical practices across global operations.
  • Guide the company’s expansion, investment, and risk management strategies.

2. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Represent the company to investors, government agencies, and local communities in mining regions (e.g., Southeast Asia, Africa, Australia).
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, industry partners, and sustainability organizations.
  • Address shareholder concerns and ensure transparent communication.

3. Performance & Risk Management

  • Monitor the senior management’s performance against operational, financial, and sustainability targets.
  • Oversee risk mitigation strategies, including commodity price volatility, counterparty risk, geopolitical risks, and environmental liabilities.

4. Compliance & Ethics

  • Uphold compliance with Singaporean and international laws (e.g., ICMM standards, OECD Due Diligence Guidance).
  • Ensure ethical sourcing, anti-corruption practices.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in senior leadership roles (e.g., Chairman, CEO, or Board Director) within the mining or commodity trading (especially in metals).
  • Deep understanding of global mining regulations, ESG frameworks, and commodity markets.
  • Experience in mining Mergers and Acquisitions financing.
  • Experience in Singapore’s corporate governance is a plus.
  • Strong network with investors, governments, and industry bodies is a plus.
