Leading International Mobile Network (TMT) Advisory

The Opportunity
Our client is a highly influential, strategic International Consortium of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), uniting a significant global network of over 20 member operators across multiple regions. This organization is a critical hub for innovation, facilitating border-less services, technology adoption, and strategic commercial collaboration among its prestigious member companies. We are searching for an exceptional and highly networked Chief Executive Officer to lead the Consortium into its next phase of growth and technological transformation. The successful candidate will transition into the role under the guidance of the incumbent CEO, ensuring a smooth handover of leadership and momentum.
Key Responsibilities
The CEO will be responsible for defining and executing a future-focused strategy across six critical pillars:
Partnership & Commercial Leadership
- Maintain and strengthen the core commercial and technical Roaming partnerships across the extensive member operator network, driving mutual value and global market advantage.
- Act as the organization’s principal ambassador, cultivating executive-level relationships with all member Telco groups (20+ operators, including a major Tier-1 telecommunications group as a founding member), the Board of Directors (consisting different MNO executives), and key technology product owners globally.
Innovation & New Service Development
- Drive the commercialisation and deployment of IOT services, ensuring the Consortium provides a seamless, border-less service offering that maximises the inherent value of IOT across all member networks.
- Develop and scale CPAAS (Communication Platform as a Service) solutions—including Video and Messaging—to be offered through member networks, targeting high-value enterprise markets.
- Champion the development of new market frontiers, including leading the strategic exploration and potential deployment of AI as a Service solutions as a key industry trend.
Digital Transformation
- Oversee the final stages of the API architecture build and drive its subsequent adoption and monetisation across the member ecosystem.
Organisational & Talent Development
- Lead the Talent Development Network strategy, leveraging existing partnerships with top-tier global business schools to help upskill and foster talent within the broader member network community.
- Provide inspirational leadership and effective people management for the current staff of approximately 40 mid to senior-level professionals, primarily based in the Singapore headquarters, with some overseas staff. This includes developing a motivated culture and implementing an appropriate performance and rewards system.
Candidate Profile & Required Attributes
The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record in the telecommunications sector:
- Deep Telco Background: Extensive executive experience within the telecommunications industry, with a comprehensive understanding of mobile operator dynamics, network technologies, and new revenue streams (e.g., IoT, CPaaS, 5G).
- Exceptional Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder relationships across a global, federated network structure (e.g., industry consortia, alliances, or joint ventures).
- Executive Presence & Communication: Possesses excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of acting as the authoritative voice of the Alliance in front of partners, industry mass media, and global forums.
- Team Leadership: Proven experience leading a professional team of 40+ mid to senior-level staff, with the ability to inspire a high-performance culture and establish effective compensation and reward structures.
- Strategic Agility: A forward-thinker capable of balancing the execution of core business (Roaming, Partnerships) with the strategic exploration and development of frontier markets (API, AI/ML).
The Selection Process
The final interview stages will be conducted by the Board of Directors, consisting of executive representatives from five different member telecommunication companies.
