Job description

• Read and Interpret Blueprints – Understand technical drawings, plans, and building specifications to determine measurements, materials, and installation procedures.
• Measure, Cut, and Shape Materials – Use hand tools, power tools, and machinery to accurately measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, laminates, and other materials.
• Construct and Assemble Structures – Build furniture, cabinets, doors, window frames, staircases, partitions, and other wooden fixtures according to design requirements.
• Install Fixtures and Fittings – Fit and install doors, windows, flooring, moldings, shelves, and other wooden or metal components.
• Repair and Maintain Structures – Diagnose defects, replace damaged parts, and carry out maintenance work on wooden structures, furniture, and fittings.
• Select and Prepare Materials – Choose appropriate types of timber, panels, or other materials based on project specifications, and ensure proper treatment or finishing.
• Operate Carpentry Tools and Equipment Safely – Maintain and use saws, drills, sanders, planers, and joiners while following workplace safety standards.
• Apply Finishing Touches – Sand, varnish, paint, or stain wooden surfaces to achieve the required appearance and durability.
• Collaborate with Other Tradespeople – Work alongside builders, electricians, plumbers, and designers to ensure proper integration of carpentry work within a project.
• Maintain Work Area and Tools – Keep the workshop clean and organized, ensure tools are in good working condition, and follow safety and housekeeping procedures.
