Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient CAM Engineer (Junior or Senior) to support the development and optimization of CNC machining operations. In this role, you will create and refine CAM programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling and lathe machines using NX12 software, ensuring high precision, efficiency, and manufacturability. You will be responsible for generating NC code, interpreting CAD models, selecting suitable cutting tools, and designing effective fixturing solutions to securely support parts during machining.

Beyond programming, you will manage and maintain the Tooling Management System (TMS), plan and allocate machining tasks, and provide on-the-ground support by troubleshooting machining issues and offering technical guidance to Machining Technicians. You will also play a key role in monitoring production schedules, resolving bottlenecks, and leading process improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency and maintain quality standards.

If you have strong experience in CAM development, a solid understanding of machining principles, and a drive for continuous improvement, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

CAM Programming

  • Develop CAM programs for milling and lathe operations on 3-axis machines using NX12 software. Note: Candidates with skill on 4- & 5-axis machines will be considered for the Senior role.
  • Create, modify, and optimize NC programs to meet machining requirements and improve efficiency.
  • Create 3D solid models and interpret CAD drawings to support manufacturing processes.
  • Identify and design appropriate work holding or fixturing solutions to securely support parts during machining operations.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools based on material, machine capabilities, and cutting conditions.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming issues to ensure production continuity.

Tooling Management System (TMS)

  • Maintain tooling database and inventory - Tooling Management System (TMS).

Training & Guidance on CAM Software

  • Provide guidance to Senior Machining Technicians and CAM Programmers on CAM software use.

Technical Consultancy & Issue Resolution

  • Provide technical consultancy and guidance to technicians and CAM Programmers in the team.
  • Analyze and resolve machining-related issues to ensure smooth operations.
Who are we looking for?

Required Qualifications and Experience (Junior)

  • Higher NITEC in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Precision or Advanced Manufacturing) – or equivalent Technical Certificate from technical/vocational institutions
  • At least 2 years of experience operating CNC Milling (3-Axis) & Conventional Milling (Con-M) machines.
  • Able to interpret CAD drawings and create accurate 3D solid models to support CAM programming and process planning.
  • Knowledge of fixturing principles to design and apply workholding solutions that ensure part stability, accessibility, and safety during machining.
  • Familiarity with cutting tool selection based on material properties, machine capabilities, and cutting conditions.
  • Experience using ERP or production management systems to track job progress and update schedules

Candidates with the following Qualifications and Experience will be considered for the Senior role:

  • At least 2 years of experience as CAM Programmer.
  • At least 2 years of experience operating CNC Milling (3-Axis) & Conventional Milling (Con-M) machines.
  • At least 2 years of experience operating CNC Milling (4 & 5-Axis) / Turn-Mill (TMD) machines.
