Job description

You will be in charge of the Bettr Coffee cafe @ Foundry and oversee the daily operations of the front & back-of-house teams at the Bettr Coffee’s café at the Foundry, ensuring standards and SOPs are followed, executed and in place to deliver exceptional products & services and a welcoming environment for guests. You are also responsible for optimizing the overall guest experience, and fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere for all FOH & BOH staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations/FOH+BOH:

  • Work closely with the team to achieve topline targets and manage operational costs to ensure financial viability of the outlet

  • Manage overall P&L for the outlet including revenue from corporate events

  • Manage key stakeholders like landlord, community partners, customers to ensure win-win relationships

  • Lead the front & back-of-house teams to provide a warm, welcoming, and memorable experience for all guests.

  • Recruit, train, and manage a dynamic front and back-of-house team, including servers, baristas, bartenders, kitchen and support staff.

  • Set, maintain and train impeccable service standards, ensuring that guests receive prompt, attentive, and personalized service.

  • Foster clear and effective communication within the team to ensure smooth operations.

  • Handle guest and partner inquiries, feedback, and concerns with professionalism and a commitment to resolving issues swiftly.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the food and beverage offerings, and train staff to provide informed recommendations to guests.

  • Ensure consistency and quality in food and beverage offerings, presentation and service quality.

  • Create and manage staff schedules to meet operational needs and labor cost goals.

  • Manage costs effectively, monitoring pricing, waste, and inventory levels to optimize profitability.

  • Cultivate and manage relationships with suppliers and distributors to secure the best products and negotiate favorable terms.

  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, liquor laws, and company policies

  • Implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and maximize revenue through upselling and suggestive selling techniques.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of special events, private dining, and catering operations.

  • Work together with the kitchen and beverage teams to ensure menu changes are implemented regularly

  • Manage the POS, liaising with vendor, and all other tech/digital systems that are required for the smooth running of the outlet

  • Drive the sustainability efforts of the cafe to attain the Food Made Good Standard.


Bar:

  • Oversee all aspects of bar operations, including staff management, inventory control, and beverage quality, freshness, and consistency.

  • Train and mentor bar staff to ensure they have the knowledge and skills to prepare and serve beverages to the highest standards.

  • Collaborate with the culinary team to create beverage pairings that complement the food menu.


BB Ambassador and advocate:

  • Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of The Bettr Group.

  • Work closely with senior management to develop team’s vision and strategies for the year, in support of overall organisation’s visions and strategies

  • Work closely with other teams to ensure optimal utilisation of organisation’s resource, brand adherence and to achieve organisational wide goals

  • Work closely with Academy/Social to ensure that the team remains true to our social core and provide on-going support to meeting social KPIs, including hiring interns and graduates from Bettr’s social programmes and creating a safe supportive growth environment for them to thrive


Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years proven experience in a lead beverage management position or lead front of house manager role, preferably in upscale restaurants or bars. Proven leadership experience or related hospitality leadership role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including mixology and wine service.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills..

  • Strong knowledge of cafe/bar operations, including service standards, reservations, and guest relations.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software.

  • Knowledge of food and beverage offerings, wine service, and mixology.

  • Leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
