Job Description
Responsibilities and Authorities
- Raw material planning
- Responsible for master scheduling, capacity planning, and machine loading to meet operational objectives.
- Analyze and coordinate with master scheduler / Supply Chain team to determine optimal raw materials.
- Own overall raw material availability, inventory plan, projection and control, back-order, and supplier OTD. Manage Raw Material Plan (SIOP, PEFP, NPI, EOL, VAVE), PO placement, execution, and resolve level 1 issues.
- Review and analyze material requirements for production and implement necessary actions such as generating Purchase Orders, scheduling, and rescheduling based on MRP requirements.
- Analyze and resolve inventory issues to meet corporate targets, improve manufacturing resources, and customer fulfillment.
- Analyze material obsolescence and manage & report excess material exposure.
- Generate and maintain Supply Chain Metrics regularly.
- Participate in material review sessions for non-conforming materials and activate timely return to vendors.
- Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure material availability.
- Process, Audits, and Suppliers’ Management
- Coordinate and drive interdepartmental activities with quality assurance, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and customer service.
- Maintain good relationships with suppliers and monitor important supplier metrics.
- Lead internal and external audit activities.
- Ensure compliance with systems and procedures in accordance with SOX, ISO standards, OHSAS18001, FDA regulations, and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare reports and data related to purchasing and planning functions for corporate use.
- Assess need for new department operational procedures and implement them.
- Analyze and recommend improvements to policies, procedures, systems, forecasts, and projects.
- Provide guidance and training for new buyers, planners, and interns.
- Apply judgment and techniques to resolve complex issues requiring extensive evaluation and analysis.
- JDE E1 Superuser (ERP/MRP system setup familiarity is a plus).
- Projects and NPI
- Manage and lead procurement, planning, and purchasing projects or NPI initiatives.
Qualifications
- Degree in Materials Management or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of related experience in buying and planning within a manufacturing environment. More extensive experience is required for non-degree holders.
