Job description

The Perse School (Singapore) is seeking a dynamic and passionate Teacher of Business Studies to join our growing Senior School, opening in August 2025. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Business Studies in accordance with the Cambridge International curriculum (IGCSE), fostering student engagement, achievement, and a strong understanding of business principles.

In addition to teaching, the post-holder will contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities, such as clubs, sustainability initiatives, and field trips. They will also serve as a Form Tutor, providing pastoral care and supporting students’ personal and academic development.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in Business Studies across Secondary and IGCSE level.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans in line with the Cambridge syllabus and school schemes of work.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Set and mark classwork, homework, tests, and internal assessments aligned with curriculum objectives.
  • Prepare students for external examinations and ensure strong academic outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and review of the Business Studies curriculum.
  • Participate in internal standardization, mock examinations, and coursework moderation.
  • Track and report student progress regularly using school-approved assessment tools.
  • Establish a positive learning environment that encourages high standards of behavior, engagement, and effort.
  • Maintain classroom discipline in accordance with school policies.
  • Participate in department meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, including Cambridge training as required.
  • Support the academic and personal development of students.
  • Be available to provide guidance and feedback to students outside classroom hours when needed.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong subject knowledge in Business Studies, Economics, and Entrepreneurship.
  • Experience teaching Geography to students aged 11–18, including preparation for IGCSE and A Level/IB examinations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to create an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse student needs, including EAL learners.
  • Commitment to environmental education and promoting sustainability within the school community.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple responsibilities effectively.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
  • Familiarity with inquiry-based, project-based, or concept-based learning approaches.
  • Ability to teach a second subject up to Key Stage 3 or 4.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging students in extracurricular activities, such as Model United Nations, sustainability initiatives, or global citizenship projects.
