Role Summary:
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Business Development Manager to spearhead our expansion into Singapore's local retail channels. This individual will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with retail partners, and driving revenue growth for our baby, kids, and maternity product categories across brick-and-mortar channels such as department stores, specialty boutiques, pharmacies, and baby stores.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Retail Channel Development
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new local retail partners and distributors (e.g., Mothercare, Kiddy Palace, BHG, Watsons, Supermarkets, Organizations, B2B, B2G, independent baby boutiques).
- Negotiate and secure listing agreements, trading terms, and promotional placements.
- Build a roadmap for expanding presence in relevant retail formats across Singapore.
2. Strategic Partnerships & Account Management
- Maintain strong relationships with existing retail accounts, ensuring sales targets and brand presence are optimized.
- Develop joint business plans and seasonal campaigns with key accounts.
- Monitor and analyze sell-through data, in-store feedback, and stock levels.
3. Market & Consumer Insights
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, pricing strategies, and competitor activity in the baby, kids, and maternity space.
- Translate insights into actionable plans for product positioning, promotions, and channel-specific assortments.
4. Sales & Revenue Growth
- Drive sales performance and meet revenue goals through effective retail strategies and trade activations.
- Manage budget allocation for in-store promotions, sampling, and retail staff training.
- Work closely with the marketing and product teams to ensure brand consistency and product relevance in stores.
5. Operational Coordination
- Collaborate with internal supply chain/logistics to ensure smooth deliveries and order fulfillment to retail partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for baby and maternity products in Singapore.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in retail business development or key account management, ideally in baby, kids, maternity, FMCG, or lifestyle categories.
- Strong network and understanding of Singapore’s retail landscape.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Entrepreneurial, resourceful, and driven with a hands-on attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-growing, family-oriented company culture.
Nice to Have:
- Previous experience working with children’s products or maternity categories.
- Experience in launching or growing brands in retail in Singapore.
- Familiarity with trade show participation, store merchandising, and retail training programs.
