We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to drive growth within our connectivity solutions portfolio, specifically targeting the Ocean Science, Defence, and Energy Transition markets. This role will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities, as well as managing and expanding existing client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of these sectors, a proven track record of sales success, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
· Market Analysis & Strategy: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify key trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape within the Ocean Science, Defence, and Energy Transition sectors. Develop and execute strategic business development plans to achieve revenue targets.
· Lead Generation & Qualification: Proactively identify and qualify potential clients through networking, industry events, online research, and other lead generation activities.
· Sales & Business Development: Manage the entire sales cycle, from initial contact and proposal development to negotiation and contract closure. Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within target organizations.
· Proposal Development: Collaborate with technical teams to develop compelling and competitive proposals that address client requirements and showcase our value proposition.
· Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
· Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., engineering, marketing, product management) to ensure seamless execution of projects and effective communication with clients.
· Reporting & Forecasting: Provide regular updates on sales pipeline, progress against targets, and market trends. Contribute to accurate sales forecasting.
· Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows to network with potential clients and promote our connectivity solutions.
· Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations with clients, ensuring favourable terms and conditions for the company.
Professional requirements
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales, preferably within the Ocean Science, Defence, or Energy Transition sector
· Strong technical background (electrical / electronic engineering or similar)
· Extensive sales experience ideally in the marine technology marketplace.
· Solid IT skills, MS office, Navision an advantage but not essential.
· Strong focus on results, deadlines and customer satisfaction.
· Dedicated, outgoing, flexible and a good team player.
· Willingness to travel as needed
