We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Insurance Business Development Manager to grow our Commercial and Travel Insurance portfolios. This is an all-encompassing role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional negotiation skills, a robust network of industry contacts, and a passion in expanding market share in uncharted territories. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Commercial Insurance Focus:

  • Manage existing and solicit new business in commercial line, including SMEs and government agencies accounts.

  • Assess customers’ business risks and tailor insurance solutions across property, liability, business interruption, and potentially new risks.

  • Identify, lead and manage tender process, from identifying opportunities and preparing proposals to submitting tenders and managing contracts.

  • Work closely with underwriting and claims teams to ensure smooth policy servicing and claims management.

  • Act as a subject matter expert to internal team, consistently adding value to the department by sharing market insights, contribute innovative ideas and more efficient distribution model.

  • Assist HOD with the development and roll-out of any new products.

  • Contribute to the Business transformation agendas by actively participate in business improvements squads.

Travel Insurance Focus:

  • Drive travel insurance growth with our partners in the trade specific agencies distribution space.

  • Develop strong relationships with ground-level agents to drive desired behaviours and implement account management strategies to enhance partner engagement and maximise revenue growth.

  • Advocate Etiqa branding as a trusted travel insurance partner.

  • Plan and conduct product and system trainings regularly to ease selling experience and ensure compliant to regulatory requirement.

  • Pro-actively plan and execute sales campaigns for partners to ensure revenue targets are met.

  • Conduct performance review (sales, profitability, service quality) with partners on monthly basis and address issues/gaps/partners’ needs promptly.

  • Maintain up-to-date on competitive analysis to ensure our proposition is always ahead of the market.

  • Conduct competitive analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and threats to ensure our proposition stays ahead of market forces and meets market demands.

  • Lead and manage projects related to products and services enhancement to elevate partner and customer experience.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or related field.

  • Certification in PGI and ComGI is a must.

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in business development within the general insurance industry.

  • At least 3 years of experience in managing agency business.

  • Exposures in establishing affinity partnership with insurtech/fintech/TSAs are highly desired.

  • In-depth understanding in commercial lines underwriting is essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with a well ingrained sales & service mindset.

  • Experienced in new product launches and familiar with agile methodology.

  • Proficient in performance analysis, Power Point presentations, developing business proposals and commercial contracts.

  • Adaptable and able to work independently and under fast pace environment.

  • Resilient in facing challenges, be creative and flexible in problem solving.
