Job Summary
The Business Development Director is a strategic leader at the forefront of driving growth in the dynamic e-commerce landscape. In this high-impact role, you’ll craft and execute expansion strategies, uncover new revenue opportunities, and establish impactful partnerships with brands, platforms, and logistics providers across regions. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—marketing, product, sales, and operations—to launch effective go-to-market plans, accelerate customer acquisition, and drive commercial success. The ideal candidate brings a strong network within the e-commerce ecosystem, along with a proven track record in closing high-value deals and scaling business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Market Expansion
- Develop and lead the overall business development strategy aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
- Identify and evaluate new market opportunities, emerging trends, and potential revenue streams.
- Drive geographic, channel, or product line expansions as needed.
Partnerships & Alliances
- Build and nurture strategic partnerships with brands, suppliers, platforms, and logistics providers.
- Negotiate and close high-value commercial deals to enhance the company’s product offerings and reach.
- Represent the company in key networking events, trade shows, and industry forums.
Revenue Growth & Sales Enablement
- Work closely with marketing, category, and sales teams to implement go-to-market strategies that convert leads into revenue.
- Set performance targets and oversee key account management to maximize client satisfaction and retention.
- Track sales performance and identify optimization opportunities across acquisition channels.
Cross-functional Leadership
- Collaborate with internal teams—product, operations, marketing, logistics, and finance—to align on execution plans and optimize the customer journey.
- Lead and mentor a team of business development managers or associates to support execution of strategic plans.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Use market insights, customer data, and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions.
- Regularly report on KPIs, pipeline performance, and business development progress to the executive team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or commercial leadership—preferably in the e-commerce, retail, or tech sector.
- Strong network within the e-commerce ecosystem (brands, platforms, logistics, fintech, etc.).
- Proven track record of leading growth initiatives and closing strategic deals.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Highly analytical and performance-driven mindset.
