Business Development Manager – Airfreight

The Role

They are looking for a Business Development Manager with a strong focus on business development for airfreight.
Responsibilities
1. Business Development
· Achieve set individual sales target, revenue and profitability growth through developing both existing and new customer base, offering value based logistical solutions in tandem with overall corporate directions and strategies.
· Must have thorough understanding of customer’s business needs, their shipment pattern, cargo particulars, frequency of shipment, volumes, trade lanes, etc.
· Responsible for all rate quotations and rate negotiations, RFQs bidding and collaborate with department heads to ensure that preparations are done as per schedule.
· Understand pricing and cost components associated with the proposed solutions.
· Coordinate with client during the bridging period before signing of the contract to initiate the relationship.
· Responsible for total sales cycle, particularly, collection on time and without bad debts.
· Identify market trends and competitive rate actions and communicating those trends to the management team.
· Visits and repeated follow ups with customers for more business as per customer potential and exploring added business from Customers other divisions/cross selling.
· Discuss performance of the sales and new business plan with senior management on a periodic basis, analyze reasons for variance from plan, if any, and identify corrective actions that need to be taken to achieve the plans.
· Attend trade exhibitions and promote Company’s presence through distribution of promotional material, brochures, business cards, etc.
· Maintain a database to ascertain progress on new business tapped i.e. potential customers visited, customers secured and those under review.
2. Relationships Management
· Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers to achieve high customer satisfaction and retention leading to increased sales revenue.
· Work closely with Operation team to offer appealing, customer driven and cost effective logistics solution to customers to ensure smooth and complete execution and overall contribute in quality improvement for all assigned accounts.
· Ensure that all new customer data and other sales data for clients, is entered into proprietary CRM and this information is maintained as per company policy.
· If accounts involve managing other geographies, monitor regional offices through periodic discussions, status reports and reviews.
· Build communication channels and relationship with all Branch offices for sharing of information, knowledge and leads for new business.
3. Job Management
· Job planning, interdepartmental collaboration and coordination to ensure high delivery.
· Ensure documentation is being properly handled by the team and that status track sheets are maintained for jobs, costs and quotations where relevant
· Work closely with Finance to resolve invoicing and collections and other financial management issues relations to the accounts.
· Adding value to the Organization by proactively involving with the management to achieve the Vision of the Organizations.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
· Air freight experience is required. Having Aerospace experience is a plus.
· Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in business development or sales.
· Proven track records in bringing in new customers and converting leads to sales.
