Business Data Analyst

Role Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Data Analyst to support technology initiatives related to investment risk and compliance. This role involves working closely with stakeholders and developers to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements, while also ensuring quality delivery through testing and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Understanding Business Needs & Analyzing Data:

• Partner with internal teams to gain a deep understanding of business challenges, particularly in the area of investment risk and compliance.
• Conduct data exploration and analysis to validate business requests and uncover deeper insights.
• Translate business requirements into structured, precise specifications that guide development teams.

Crafting User Stories:

• Create detailed and concise user stories that reflect both functional and technical perspectives.
• Align all user stories with broader product goals to ensure consistency in delivery.

Validating Technical Solutions:

• Collaborate with developers, senior analysts, and users to review and validate proposed solutions.
• Suggest feasible alternatives when technical or design limitations arise.

Documentation & Specifications:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation covering business logic, system design, and the reasoning behind decisions.
• Develop testable specifications such as feature files to support automation and future test cycles.

Quality Assurance & Testing:

• Conduct hands-on functional and integration testing.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT), help document findings, and verify that the delivered product aligns with business expectations.
• Ensure the overall solution meets quality and performance standards.

Requirements & Skills:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in business analysis or data analysis, preferably within the financial or investment sectors.
• Hands-on experience working with SQL for complex data queries and transformation logic; ability to assess data models and trace issues through database layers.
• Knowledge of investment risk or compliance systems in banking or asset management is highly desirable.
• Experience in performing UAT and documentation
• Solid experience preparing Business Requirements Documents (BRD), Functional Specifications (FSD), use cases, and process flows.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities; comfortable working independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive team-oriented mindset.
• Familiarity with Agile environments, Jira, Confluence, and tools supporting automated testing (e.g., Cucumber or similar) is a plus.
