Join a Leading Player in the Asian Shipping Market – Bunker Manager (Singapore)

A privately owned shipping company with a strong presence across the Asian maritime market is looking for a proactive and experienced Bunker Manager to join our growing team in Singapore.

As part of our expansion, we are seeking someone who can work independently and effectively coordinate with the Operations and Shipping teams to determine the most efficient and timely bunker replenishment strategies for our fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure bunkers for the fleet, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality supply.

  • Source and evaluate quotations and confirm suppliers with the Head of Procurement’s endorsement.

  • Oversee bunker supplier performance, including quality, quantity, and operational reliability.

  • Liaise with Masters, Superintendents, and Operations teams to meet vessel bunker specifications.

  • Communicate bunker nominations to suppliers, vessels, agents, and internal stakeholders.

  • Monitor and document all bunker activities, including surveyor appointments and delivery confirmations.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve bunker-related operational issues.

  • Apply operations research and linear programming (e.g., BOPS) where applicable.

  • Propose continuous improvement projects using data insights and trend analysis.

  • Support hedge deals and forward pricing strategies when necessary.

  • Contribute to process improvement and policy development within the department


    Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Shipping, Economics, or a related field.

  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in bunker and fuel oil trading or procurement.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and negotiation skills with a commercial mindset.

  • Proven track record in the shipping industry.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in both English and Chinese (to liaise with Chinese-speaking business partners).

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage both routine and complex tasks independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with IMOS software is an advantage.

  • Singaporean or Permanent Resident preferred.
