Job summary

Marex in Singapore is seeking a junior energy broker to cover Chinese institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives. You will learn from senior brokers from day one, build client relationships, and grow your own book over time in a fast-paced, language-driven environment.

No prior broking experience is required; we hire for attitude, language skills and willingness to develop expertise in energy broking. This is an entry-level, client-facing role focused on East Asia clients.

Responsibilities

• Support senior brokers in covering institutional clients across energy derivatives.

• Collaborate with Operations and Technology teams.
• Contribute to efforts to increase P&L through market analysis.

Role Summary

We are looking for an ambitious, commercially driven individual to join Marex as a junior energy broker in Singapore. This is afront office, client-facing role focused on covering Chinese institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives.

You will work alongside experienced senior brokers from day one – learning the business, building client relationships and developing the skills to run your own book over time. No prior broking experience is required. We are hiring for attitude, language skills and the instinct to build lasting client relationships in a high-performance environment.

The role is focused on covering institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives, supporting primarily East Asia client portfolio. The successful candidate is expected to communicate directly with institutional clients who conduct their business in local language.

All employees are expected to understand and comply with any Sarbanes Oxley operational requirements relevant to their role.

Overall Responsibilities

• Supporting senior brokers in covering institutional clients across energy commodity derivatives
• Communicating with clients in their business language – by phone, in person and across digital channels
• Assisting with the onboarding of new client relationships and the maintenance of existing ones
• Engaging with and updating clients on market developments and product activity
• Collaborating with central operations functions including Operations and Technology
• Contributing to efforts to increase P&L through analysis of markets and products

• Fluency in Mandarin and English – written and spoken – is essential; this is a non-negotiable requirement of the role given the Chinese institutional client base
• Experience in a client-facing or service-oriented role; financial services background is not required
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both languages
• Demonstrated ability to engage and build trust with clients or customers
• Resilience and composure under pressure in a dynamic environment
• A basic understanding of financial markets is helpful; structured training will be provided
• Fresh graduates and candidates with limited experience in the brokerage industry are welcome to apply
• Experience in a regulated environment and awareness of associated risk and compliance requirements is advantageous
