Role Overview

We are seeking a driven Biosensor Design & Development Engineer/Scientist to lead the creation and advancement of next-generation biosensors. In this role, you will be at the forefront of prototyping and refining sensor systems for various applications. Candidates with diverse technical backgrounds (e.g., electrical, optical, fluorescent, mechanical) who share a passion for transforming cutting-edge research into impactful, real-world solutions are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conceptualization & System Design
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, biology, chemistry) to outline system requirements and define sensor architectures.
  2. Prototype Development
    Lead the design, fabrication, and assembly of sensor prototypes, ensuring seamless integration of hardware and detection elements.
    Rapidly iterate on designs to optimize sensitivity, selectivity, and overall performance.
  3. Testing & Validation
    Develop rigorous test plans and execute experiments to assess sensor functionality, reliability, and reproducibility.
    Utilize statistical and analytical tools to interpret data and guide design improvements.
  4. System Integration & Optimization
    Work closely with electronics, software, and mechanical teams to integrate biosensors into complete diagnostic or monitoring platforms.
    Optimize system performance by refining detection strategies, hardware interfaces, and workflow processes.
  5. Technical Documentation & Collaboration
    Maintain comprehensive design records, including schematics, specifications, and test reports.
    Present progress updates, findings, and design recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  6. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    Stay current with emerging sensor technologies and industry advancements to drive innovation.
    Propose new methodologies or techniques to enhance biosensor functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Physics, or related field.
  • Proven experience (academic or industry) in designing and developing sensor systems or similar technology.

Technical Skills Required

  • Solid understanding of sensor design principles and detection methods (electrical, optical, or fluorescent).
  • Proficiency in hardware prototyping and testing (e.g., circuit design, optical setup, mechanical fixtures).
  • Experience with advanced bioassay design and molecular recognition elements.
  • Familiarity with microfabrication or microfluidics.
  • Knowledge of surface chemistry and biomolecule immobilization techniques.
  • Experience with data acquisition tools (LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, etc.) and statistical analysis.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
