Job description

We are seeking an Assistant / Chartering Manager to join our client, a leading shipping organisation in Singapore.

In this role, you will be responsible for planning and managing fleet procurement for mid- and short-term charters, conducting market analysis in the Time Charter and Sale & Purchase (SnP) markets, and overseeing the incumbent fleets, including hire, delivery, and redelivery. You will work closely with internal teams to align fleet activities such as cascading and dry dock scheduling, while supporting both charter-in and charter-out operations, as well as ship sale and purchase transactions. The role also involves post-fixture operations, relationship management with shipowners and brokers, technical follow-up on chartered vessels, and quality monitoring for performance optimization. Additionally, you will support the implementation of the CHORUS chartering module and handle key administrative responsibilities including meeting coordination, documentation for internal approvals, and vendor verification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 4 years of relevant experience with an understanding of vessel operation, vessel structure, charterparty contract, maritime law
  • At least 1 year experience in shipping related field such as vessel operation for the Executive level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to optimize stakeholder management with owners and brokers and internal cross functional teams.
  • Strong Logistical and analytical thinking ability
  • Demonstrates a professional business attitude, including timely reporting, effective timeline management, and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Responsible and meticulous with a high degree of honesty and integrity
  • Capable of working independently and efficiently managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Prior experience in chartering ships would be a strong advantage
