UWCSEA Phoenix basketball team, Dover campus, seeks an experienced and forward thinking person for the role of Basketball Coach to start from August 2025.
The incumbent should display initiative and confidence when coaching all areas of the programme, specifically School Teams, After School Activities, Sports Club and Phoenix Basketball Club (Development / Competitive).
Besides coaching, this role is also responsible for administrative duties across the whole programme. The appropriate person should be dynamic and able to adapt to our ever-changing and growing Basketball Programme.
Main Responsibilities
- Coach with the School Teams, After School Activities, Sports Club and Phoenix Basketball Club (Development / Competitive) including weekday and weekend as well as holiday programmes.
- Work with team members to achieve a common goal and improve as a team.
- Look at every setback during coaching as an opportunity to learn and improve.
- Supervision and coaching during trips and competitions.
- Safe maintenance of the basketball equipment.
- Basketball student assessment, target setting and feedback to students and parents.
- Ensure on-court player safeguarding and health and safety policies are applied.
- Assist the Head of Basketball with the administration of the Basketball Programme, including on/off-site training, competitions, trips, CIMS input of data, finance, scheduling, and website development and maintenance as needed.
- Assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs with similar levels of responsibility and complexity to the assigned job grade as may be reasonably requested by the line manager and/or the College.
Person Specifications
- National body coaching qualification - Level 2 and 3 or Equivalent National Coaching Award.
- Certified First Aider (Standard First Aid Certification preferred).
- At least 5 years of basketball coaching experience with a broad and comprehensive understanding of basketball training systems, theories and practices; knowledge of a variety of methods/systems of collecting data to measure the effectiveness of the development and competitive basketball programme.
- Experience in administrative duties.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Google Suites is ideal but not essential.
- Able to work cohesively in a team-based environment as well as independently and passionate about working with children from K1 to Y12.
