Job summary

Patsnap is seeking a Backend Engineer to build scalable Java-based services and own key backend components for global products from design to production.

You will work closely with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and other teams to ensure robust, high-performance systems that scale with demand. The role is based in Singapore and offers hands-on ownership and architectural influence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional Java backend development.
• Strong understanding of Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency with SQL/NoSQL databases, and knowledge of database performance optimization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement robust backend solutions in Java to support new features and products.
• Lead End-to-End Projects: Own the entire development cycle from requirements gathering to production deployment with minimal supervision.
• Optimize Performance & Scalability: Conduct code reviews, optimize databases, and fine-tune microservices for high traffic.
• Ensure Code Quality & Best Practices: Establish and enforce coding standards, testing strategies, and documentation for the team.
• Collaboration: Share knowledge on Java best practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps to deliver cohesive releases on schedule.
• Troubleshoot and Debug: Diagnose issues in production and implement long-term fixes.

Patsnap is looking for a Backend Engineer / Senior Backend Engineer to build and evolve the high-performance, scalable systems behind our global innovation intelligence and AI-powered products. Working primarily with Java, you’ll take ownership of critical backend services and tackle complex engineering challenges across system architecture, performance, reliability, and scale.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll have the opportunity to own meaningful projects from design through to production, working closely with Product, Frontend, DevOps, and other engineering teams to turn ideas into robust, high-quality solutions. Beyond writing great code, you’ll help shape technical decisions, improve engineering standards and practices, and continuously strengthen the systems that enable Patsnap to deliver fast, reliable products to customers around the world.

What You'll Be Doing

Job Requirements
