Job summary

TikTok Singapore invites applications for a Search Architecture Engineer to design and optimize the search system architecture, ensuring stability and high availability across TikTok Search. You will tackle online services and offline data flows, and work on performance bottlenecks while reducing costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in CS or related field, with 3+ years of experience
• Proficient in C, C++, Java or Go; C++ favored
• Strong coding, design and problem-solving skills

• Experience in search engines, ML or distributed systems is a plus

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the search system of TikTok and its related products and optimize the search architecture
• Assist in designing and developing the search system, delivering core search capabilities to partners
• Focus on architecture abstraction and process optimization for search scenarios
• Handle large-scale systems with high concurrency and throughput to improve stability and scalability
• Research, design and develop core components and implement new technologies
• Collaborate with teams to integrate hardware and software systems and define performance requirements
• Analyze user needs and translate them into software solutions using CS and engineering principles
• Update and enhance software capabilities and oversee testing and validation procedures
• Ensure online services and offline data flow performance meet cost and stability targets

About the team

Our Search Architecture Team is responsible for building up and optimizing the architecture for our Search Engine to provide the most stable and best experience for our TikTok Search users.

This person will be responsible for the design and development of the search system architecture, ensuring system stability and high availability; responsible for online services, offline data flow performance optimization, solving performance bottlenecks, reducing costs and unlocking.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the search system of TikTok and its affiliated products, and solving the architecture optimization problem of the search architecture system;
• Support the design and development of the search system , and the output core search capabilities of bytes and high-quality content to partners;
• Focus on architecture abstraction and process optimization for search scenarios, support large-scale machine learning optimization;
• Focus on large-scale systems with high concurrency and high throughput, improve system stability, performance, and scalability;
• Research and development and optimization of core components, application and implementation of new technologies;
• Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialised utility programs;
• Analyse user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis;
• Update software, enhances existing software capabilities, and develops and directs software testing and validation procedures;
• Work with computer hardware engineers to integrate hardware and software systems and develop specifications and performance requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in Computer Science, or related fields, with 3+ years of experience building scalable systems;
• Experience in programming, included but not limited to, the following programming languages: C, C++, Java or Golang, C++ is a plus;
• Solid programming ability, excellent design and code style, enthusiastic about technical challenges;
• Effective communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive;
• Experienced in at least one area of the following areas: search engine, personalized recommendations, machine learning, distributed storage system, big data frameworks is a plus.
