Job summary

Activate Interactive Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based tech consultancy, seeks a Backend Engineer for the O&S web app team in Punggol. You will build and maintain REST APIs, collaborate with frontend developers, and help optimize performance and security across distributed services.

What the officer will be working on:

• Develop and maintain REST APIs and backend services using Spring Boot / Node.js
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of system and deployment issues
• Assist in enhancing system performance, scalability, and reliability
• Participate in code reviews to improve code quality and maintainability
• Implement backend features following established security and development standards
• Work closely with frontend developers for API integration
• Support CI/CD processes and ongoing application development
• Participate in technical discussions and adoption of engineering practices

• 2-5 years of software development experience

Hands-on experience in:

• Java + Spring Boot
• REST API development
• Basic experience with:
• Node.js
• Maven

Understanding of:

• Databases (SQL / NoSQL)
• Basic application security practices
• Exposure to agile or continuous development environments
• Backend Engineer should also have front end development experience

Preferred

• Candidates with Government / Defence (MINDEF / SAF) project experience advantageous
• Exposure to secure or regulated environments
• Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS / Azure)
• Some experience participating in code reviews or team development standards

This is a 24-months fixed term contract.
