Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Backend API Developer in Singapore to design, develop, and support backend applications, APIs, and integration services. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions while improving software delivery practices.

Key duties include building Java/Spring Boot services, integrating with systems via Apache Camel, and developing robust RESTful APIs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in backend software development using Java.
• Hands-on Spring Boot, RESTful API development, DI, and security concepts.
• Experience with Apache Camel and EIP for integration.
• Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Familiarity with Kafka/ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ messaging.
• Understanding of CI/CD and version control (Git).
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Knowledge of Spring Cloud, API gateways, and service mesh concepts.
• Security standards (OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS).
• Observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.

We are seeking a Backend API Developer to design, develop, and support backend applications, APIs, and integration services. The successful candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions while contributing to the continuous improvement of software development and delivery practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build, configure, and support system integrations and messaging workflows using Apache Camel
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend components with a focus on scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, QA, and other technical teams to deliver end‑to‑end solutions
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code in accordance with established coding standards and best practices
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and support automated testing initiatives
• Troubleshoot application and production issues and implement timely resolutions
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support deployment, monitoring, and operational activities in cloud and containerized environments

Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience in backend software development using Java
• Hands‑on experience with Spring Boot, RESTful API development, dependency injection, and application security concepts
• Experience using Apache Camel and Enterprise Integration Patterns (EIP) for application and system integration
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed applications
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, or similar platforms
• Understanding of software design principles, development methodologies, and backend engineering best practices
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and software delivery processes
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across business and technology teams
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Knowledge of Spring Cloud, API gateways, service discovery, or service mesh technologies
• Familiarity with security standards and protocols, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, and TLS
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
• Exposure to capital markets, trading platforms, financial services, or related domains is advantageous
