Job summary

OCBC Group in Singapore seeks a seasoned professional for the Commodities Trade Financing middle office. You will monitor transactions, review documentary support, and track end-to-end processes while ensuring AML/CFT compliance and adherence to credit parameters.

The role requires strong risk analysis, analytical thinking, and excellent collaboration with Relationship Managers, Risk, Operations, and clients.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree holder in Banking, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, with relevant experience in commodities trade finance.
  • Strong analytical and risk judgment abilities with AML/CFT regulatory knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with Relationship Managers, Risk, Operations and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor all transactions requested by the client to ensure they fall within the credit parameters; raise exceptions for approvals when needed.
  • Obtain and review all documentary support (contracts, L/Cs, insurances, hedge contracts) before validation by Trade Ops.
  • Track the end-to-end development of the transaction from procurement to sales.
  • Review AML/CFT aspects and highlight red flags to BU, Risk and RCU where applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to approved margins and arrange cash top-ups when required.
  • Assess collateral quality and perform mark-to-market valuation to maintain ongoing collateral levels.
  • Monitor collateral movement and control release of goods financed by the bank to third parties.
  • Follow up on transaction exceptions or excess and coordinate rectification with Relationship Managers.

An independent team player performing middle office function to support Commodities Trade Financing under Global Wholesale Banking, which includes both Global Corporate Banking and Global Commercial Banking via close co-operation with Customers, Risk, Relationship Managers and Operations.

What you do
  • Monitor all transactions requested by the client to ensure that they fall within the credit parameters specified in the facility or otherwise raise as an exception for approvals.
  • Obtain and review all transactional documentary support (e.g. purchase contracts, sales contracts, export L/Cs, insurances, hedge contracts etc.) before validating the transactions for execution by Trade Ops.
  • Track the development of the transaction on end-to-end basis from procurement to sales.
  • Review the AML/CFT aspect of the transactions and highlight red flags if any to BU, Risk and RCU accordingly.
  • Ensure adherence to approved advance margins and arrange for appropriate cash top up, when required.
  • Assess the quality and value of collateral by performing mark-to-market valuation of collateral where appropriate to ensure that this is maintained on an on-going basis.
  • Monitor movement of collateral and control the release of goods financed by the bank to third parties such as warehouses, forwarders, shipping companies.
  • Follow up on transaction exception or excess and the regularisation or rectification of these matters with Relationship Managers. Provide feedback on monitoring possibilities and operational experience of the clients during credit reviews.

Who you are

Diploma or Degree holder in Banking, Finance, Economics or a related discipline, with relevant experience in commodities trade finance. Minimally 3 years of relevant experience in middle office function supporting structured commodities trade finance transactional monitoring, with knowledge of AML/CFT requirements and regulatory controls. Strong experience in commodity trade finance structures, collateral management, and credit facilities across sectors such as Metals & Mining, Energy, and Agriculture. Analytical and risk‑focused professional with the ability to assess transactional risks, identify exceptions, monitor exposures, and make sound judgments while balancing business and risk considerations. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple accounts simultaneously while ensuring compliance with approved credit parameters and operational procedures. Strong communicator and collaborative team player who works effectively with Relationship Managers, Risk, Operations, and clients.
