About the Department

Anti-Financial Crime – Investigation and Intelligence is responsible to (a) investigate into cases arising from designated AFC surveillance solutions, at the instruction of relevant senior(s), and from other approved channel(s); (b) receive, retrieve, process and make sense of information and intelligence for AFC purpose; and (c) own policies, procedures, guidelines, processes and controls to ensure that the above operate at an adequate level as prescribed by the Bank.

A key objective of AFC I&I is to drive an effective framework for the Bank to identify and investigate into complex, unusually large or unusual patterns of transactions and/or behaviors. It is responsible for discharging regulatory requirement on the Bank to disclose suspicious behavior, and to work with relevant stakeholders on risk management, at both customer, portfolio and Bank level as a result of its outputs and relevant environmental scanning.

Job Responsibilities
  1. A self-starter who must be able to work under minimal supervision, have a sense of urgency and proactive in dealing with day-to-day.
  2. Knowledge/experience/certification in KYC/AML/CFT regulations.
  3. Ensure all reviews related activities carried out adhere to the bank’s policies and procedures.
  4. Checker to review team members’ reviews to ensure the quality of the reviews.
  5. Provide training and guidance on review related matters to the team members.
  6. Conduct in-depth investigations into assigned cases that poses potential AML/CFT risks.
  7. Build Client Profile (eg Source of Wealth/Fund for “High Risk” customers regarding CDD and EDD).
  8. Engage RMs to obtain EDD information and documents for corroboration.
  9. Work closely with RMs, Team Leads and DA on EDD reviews to ensure alignment of Financial Crime risk and KYC knowledge is applied.
  10. Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders for the purpose of conducting AML investigations.
  11. Assist in the AML risk assessment of AML Ops processes.
  12. Manage and liaise to respond to escalated review enquires or complaints that may originate from internal and external stakeholders on client’s profile.
  13. Support and provide MI reporting.
  14. Lead ad hoc projects like UAT.
  15. Identify opportunities for process streamlining.
  16. SME on AML review investigation matters, process and tool usage/navigation.
  17. Implement and maintain an effective operational risk management approach in GR investigation matters.
  18. Execute and support UOB Compliance program in rolling out various investigation activities and changes.
