The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for theinspection,maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and servicing of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe,reliable, and efficient operation. The role includes preventive maintenance, correctivemaintenance, troubleshooting, component replacement, and compliance with safety and qualitystandards.
Perform scheduled preventivemaintenance according to maintenance schedules and manufacturer's recommendations.
Conduct routine inspections of vehiclesystems and components.
Replace lubricants, filters, belts,hoses, and other wear-and-tear items.
Ensure vehicles remain in roadworthy andoperational condition.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical,hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Repair or replace defective componentsand assemblies.
Carry out engine, transmission,suspension, steering, braking, and cooling system repairs.
Attend to vehicle breakdowns andemergency repair requests.
Perform pre-service and post-serviceinspections.
Identify defects and recommendcorrective actions.
Conduct road tests where authorized toverify repairs and vehicle performance.
Ensure compliance with regulatory andsafety requirements.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment toidentify faults.
Analyze fault codes and systemperformance data.
Determine root causes of failures andrecommend solutions.
Escalate complex technical issues tosupervisors when required.
Complete job cards, maintenance records,and inspection reports accurately.
Record parts usage, labor hours, andmaintenance activities.Report major defects, recurring failures, and safety concernspromptly.
Update maintenance management systems asrequired.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workareas in clean and serviceable condition.
Ensure proper handling and storage ofparts, tools, and materials.
Support inventory checks and spare partsmanagement.
Follow workplace safety procedures andcompany policies.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE)at all times.
Ensure safe handling of batteries,fuels, lubricants, and hazardous materials.
Comply with environmental, health, andsafety regulations.
Maintain emergency vehicle systems,including warning lights, sirens, communication systems, and auxiliary equipment.
Inspect and maintain auxiliaryelectrical systems and battery systems.
Ensure operational readiness ofemergency response vehicles.
Support testing and commissioning afterrepairs and maintenance.
Carry out maintenance and repairactivities assigned by supervisors.
Recommend replacement of defectivecomponents.
Stop work and report unsafe conditionsimmediately.
Vehicle availability and uptime.
Preventive maintenance completion rate.
Repair quality and first-time fix rate.
Compliance with maintenance schedules.
Workplace safety performance.
Accuracy of maintenance records.
Reports to: Workshop Supervisor / SeniorMechanic / Maintenance Manager.
Works closely with: Technicians, ServiceAdvisors, Fleet Coordinators, and Operations Personnel.
