ING Bank covers Wholesale and Retail Banking in Asia Pacific. Our Wholesale Banking business is present and active in 11 major economies in the Asia Pacific, namely China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
About the position:
We have an exciting opportunity to join ING’s Structured Export Finance (“SEF”) team responsible for:
- business development and origination of SEF transactions with Asian borrowers
- Sinosure (Chinese Export Credit Agency) covered lending business.
As Associate/VP for the SEF team in Singapore, you will support your leads and colleagues in the origination, structuring, and execution of SEF transactions across the Asia-Pacific region, working closely with ING’s global SEF platform, Country Management, and Sector expertise across Energy; TMT & Healthcare; Metals & Mining, Food & Agri; and Transportation, Logistics and Automotive.
The role involves regular contact with clients, prospects, banks, technical and legal advisors, and cooperation with internal departments such as Sector Transaction Management, Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Management, Legal, and Deal Execution, as well as other products like Loan Distribution Group, Financial Markets, and Transaction Services. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of structured finance (e.g., PF, Asset Finance) in the Asia Pacific market and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ECAs, DFIs, and other financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Relationship Management, Origination, and Business Development
- Marketing ING’s SEF capabilities to clients in designated Asian markets and originating new transaction opportunities
- Preparing presentations and leading client meetings
- Collaborating with global SEF teams, sector teams in Asia, and regional relationship management
- Presenting new transaction opportunities to senior management and Green Light Committee
- Developing new business and product ideas
- Establishing and strengthening relationships with regional players including ECAs, DFIs, banks, lawyers, and consultants
- Monitoring market developments in the region
- Structuring and executing export finance mandates
- Advising clients on transaction eligibility and feasibility, developing deal structures, and negotiating proposals
- Preparing and negotiating term sheets and legal documentation
- Performing financial and credit analysis, building financial models, and preparing credit packages
- Overseeing deal execution and coordinating with relevant units for timely closing
- Interface with loan operations, treasury, and other units for compliance and limit verification
Risk and portfolio management:
- Staying current with organizational policies and procedures
- Enhancing internal processes and suggesting improvements
People and knowledge management:
- Providing guidance, mentorship, and training to team members
- Supporting projects and policy changes as part of change management initiatives
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, or related field; Master’s or CFA is a plus
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Experience in originating and executing complex cross-border transactions in Structured Finance, Project Finance, Asset Finance, or Export Finance
- Strong credit skills, including financial modeling and risk assessment
- Significant experience in sectors where ING is active
