The National University Hospital is seeking an Associate Medical Laboratory Technologist for its Tissue Repository. Overview
The NUH Tissue Repository (TR) is a core facility specializing in bio-banking and comprehensive data collection. As an Associate Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a crucial role in tissue collection, fulfilling the bio-material needs of scientists/researchers, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our laboratory.
Reporting to the Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will perform a combination of laboratory work, data management, and administrative tasks to support the biobanks operations and research needs
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
Bio-banking Operations (60%)
Providing bio-banking services to various projects groups across NUHS cluster:
Processing blood and other biological materials.
Performing cell isolation using various techniques
Performing collection, processing, storage and distribution of surgically resected tissue specimens
Administrative (40%)
Maintaining accurate record of collection, processing and storage procedures
Performing efficient and accurate data entry into the Tissue Repository Database System (TRDS)
Collecting, cleaning, and consolidating sample and research participant data from a wide variety of data sources
Maintenance of equipment and provide logistic support for the operation of the TR
Ensuring that the SOPs and safety regulations are followed
Ensuring timely dissemination of information, escalation of issues and recommending solutions to problems.
Participating in routine laboratory administrative work such as filing and processing of delivery orders and stock
Organizing and coordinating operational processes of areas assigned
Performing other duties as assigned by the Head and Reporting Officer
Requirements
Diploma in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Biotechnology, or related field
Good laboratory skills/techniques
Comfortable to carry heavy loads/items up to 7-10kg
Good general health and no colour blindness
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferably with 1-2 years laboratory experience
