Job description

Title: Associate Machine Learning Data Researcher

Shift: UK

The Role and the Team:

Morningstar Mumbai Managed Investment Operations Data Team seeks an enthusiastic individual to manage machine learning data responsibilities, contributing to AI automation of fund data collection processes. You will perform research during different stages of ML model development, working closely with Data Research Analysts, Content Researchers, Project Specialists, Data Scientists, and Tech Developers. This position is based in Mumbai.

Responsibilities:

1. Represent fund day-to-day data collection processes, identify improvements with Data Scientists, and apply ML models for efficiency and data quality.
2. Facilitate AI-enhanced data collection activities and future data flow discussions as a domain expert.
3. Partner with Data Scientists to build/tune ML models, monitor performance, and analyze results.
4. Collaborate with global data collection teams to achieve desired outcomes.
5. Build and maintain documentation on ML models.
6. Diagnose data issues, identify root causes, and communicate with Data Scientists.
7. Formulate and refine data annotation schemes and annotate training data.

Requirements:

• Current role of Senior Data Research Analyst (SDRA).
• AI/ML Practitioner program certification.
• Ability to articulate problem statements and business requirements for ML models.
• Understanding of Morningstar data collection processes and methodologies.
• Advanced Excel and SQL skills; basic Python and regex preferred.
• Experience in automating data collection tasks using macros, SQL queries, or automation projects.
• Good English communication skills.
• Strong people and project management skills.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized.
• Bachelor's/Master's in finance, business, mathematics, or related professional certificates like PMP or CFA are valued.
