This subject introduces students to the ways perceptions of nature changed during the modern era, focusing on the Scientific Revolution (16th-18th centuries) and the Darwinian Revolution (late 18th-20th centuries). It explores shifts from viewing nature as an organic, living entity to a machine, and from creationist theories to evolutionary explanations. These changes were influenced by cultural, political, and economic factors such as religion, humanism, warfare, exploration, colonization, capitalism, technology, and industry.
