The Mature Commercial Engines Aftermarket organization is looking for a Associate Director of Powerplant Engineering & Cost that will be responsible for managing a group of powerplant engineers located across the Asia Pacific region, focused on the technical management of P&W’s maintenance services contracted fleets. Under these long-term fixed price agreements, the customers enlist P&W to manage their engines overhaul and repair requirements. These requirements, as well as the in-shop cost management that the PPE provide, are major contributors to engine reliability, time on wing, and maintenance costs all of which drive contract profitability. As a key member of the Engine Service management team, you will provide leadership to this team driving optimization of maintenance strategies for Pratt & Whitney (PW4000), Engine Alliance (GP7000), and International Aero Engines (IAE) products (V2500) with the end goal of satisfying customer needs while improving contract profitability. You will also be working closely with fleet management, engineering, repair vendors, engine centers and airline customers to accomplish the team goals. This role will be based in the Asia Pacific Region with strong preference to a location with an engine overhaul facility.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise and develop a team of engineers responsible for cost effective maintenance and workscope strategies
- Establishing and communicating engine shop visit requirements to key internal/external stakeholders.
- Coordinating with a global network of engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) centers to effectively implement workscope specifications, configuration requirements and specific shop maintenance instructions
- Partnering with the program office and fleet managers to ensure airline customer engines are maintained in a cost effective and reliable manner.
- Interact with commercial airline customers to facilitate communication and understanding of maintenance strategies / intervals.
- Liaising with Pratt & Whitney's Engineering organization, repair vendors, MRO facilities, and Engine Programs office to develop and implement shop visit cost reduction initiatives
- Identify and mitigate known or emerging technical risks through collaboration with customers, engineering, and MRO facilities
- Lead the assessment and mitigation of technical risks, service disruptions, findings review, and Service Bulletin evaluation.
- Providing real time shop visit technical support to facilitate engine throughput
- Achieve financial targets for shop visit cost through real-time management of findings and taking action to mitigate. Partner with shops to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Coordinate collaboration across all Asia Pacific engine centers to share best practices and drive alignment.
- Provide customer support for Asia Pacific airlines on technical / commercial issues in partnership with fleet management group.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline and 10+ years of prior relevant industry experience; OR Advanced Engineering degree and 7+ years of relevant industry experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Aerospace Aftermarket MRO Industry with demonstrated expertise in gas turbine engines preferred
- Work history inclusive of powerplant, project, test and/or analytical engineering experience
- Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional alignment; adept in navigating complexity in a fast-paced work environment
- A proven strategic thinker capable of developing short and long-term plans to meet customer expectations, achieve commercial strategy and business objectives
