Job Description

KKH is an 830-bed tertiary-level care hospital that provides obstetric, gynaecological, paediatric, and other services. It is part of the SingHealth group of public hospitals. As an academic medical centre, KKH serves as a teaching hospital for Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine.

Our department is seeking a dedicated and skilled ENT surgeon to join our dynamic Otolaryngology team. The ideal candidate will have specialised training in paediatric ENT and a strong commitment to providing exceptional care for children with complex ear, nose, and throat conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team at one of Singapore’s leading paediatric institutions, contributing to clinical care and academic excellence.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric ENT conditions, including congenital airway disorders, congenital hearing loss, chronic ear disease, nasal allergies, and sleep-disordered breathing.
  2. Perform surgeries such as tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, grommet tube insertion, microlaryngobronchoscopy, and other pediatric procedures.
  3. Collaborate with paediatricians, audiologists, and other specialists to ensure comprehensive multidisciplinary care.
  4. Participate in and supervise outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and on-call duties.
  5. Engage in continuing medical education activities by giving tutorials and mentoring residents and medical officers.
  6. Contribute to clinical research initiatives and quality improvement projects.

Accountability - each staff will:

  1. Be accountable to his/her clinical head.
  2. Conform to the appropriate standards of medical and clinical service quality within the department.
  3. Assist the Head of Department, Division Chairman, and CMB with departmental policies, management issues, medical teaching, training, and research activities.
  4. Undertake routine departmental functions.

Administrative Responsibilities:

To facilitate and assist the Head of Service, Head of Department, Division Chairman, and CMB with:

  • Clinical service development, including work plan execution and resource optimisation.
  • Planning of annual operating budgets within available resources.

Manpower Planning and Performance Management:

  • Perform duties diligently, work collaboratively, and strive for excellence.
  • Fulfill departmental roles effectively.
  • Provide continual performance feedback to supervisors.
  • Participate actively in hospital or national committees as a member or chairperson.

Requirements:

  • M.B.B.S. or equivalent basic medical degree.
  • Recognised relevant postgraduate qualification by the Singapore Medical Council.
  • Specialist qualification in Otolaryngology.
  • At least one first-author publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills with a passion for pediatric patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
