Job summary

Alcon is seeking an Associate, Automation & Control Engineering in Singapore to lead LS1 and DSMFlex operations, ensuring efficient manufacturing processes. You will validate systems, maintain production reporting tools, and drive continuous improvement in line with GMP/GDP standards.

The role requires a Diploma or higher in Engineering/CS, 2–3 years of troubleshooting experience, and hands-on PLC/SCADA, database and programming knowledge. 24x7 standby rotation is expected.

  • Diploma or above in Engineering/Computer Science.
  • 2–3 years of technical troubleshooting experience (Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronic/Automation).
  • Strong understanding of GMP/GDP requirements and equipment validation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee manufacturing processes and enhance controls applications.
  • Maintain, support and administer control systems and IT tools.
  • Perform system changes, enhancements and bug fixes.
  • Provide 1st level engineering support for major equipment downtime 24x7.

As the Associate, Automation & Control Engineering, you will be responsible to provide strong engineering expertise to lead and drive LS1 and DSMFlex technical Operation to ensure the efficiency of manufacturing processes and achieving the right quality and quantity of products within corporate and regulatory requirements standards

In this role, a typical day will include:
  • Manufacturing processes oversight and work on application enhancements, validation, CR, NCR/CAPA, SOP update and review activities related to manufacturing controls applications.
  • Maintain, support and administrate the system.
  • Perform system change and related enhancements / bug fixes.
  • Maintain, support and administrate production reporting tool and all manufacturing IT applications.
  • Maintain and perform routine system / server health check and backup/restore for Industrial PCs/PLCs.
  • Lead and support automation/system related projects.
  • Develop/review project documentations and related SOPs.
  • Perform system/software validation.
  • Ensure all systems and processes are in compliance to site quality and HSE requirement by performing routine review and upgrading SOP.
  • Support investigation for Non-conformance (NCR) as certified investigator, support Field Action Assessment.
  • Liaise with vendors and internal functions with technical improvement and discussion.
  • Provide urgent support during major Operational downtime (1st level engineering support for major equipment downtime [24x7 supports]).
  • To ensure compliance of SOPs
What You'll Bring to Alcon
  • Diploma and above in Engineering/Computer Science
  • 2-3 years working experience in technical trouble shooting (Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronic/Automation), equipment installation/validation and strong understanding of GMP/GDP requirement
  • Hands on knowledge of PLC/SCADA, SQL/Oracle/MS Access database, Microsoft Visual Basic/C#.Net, Equipment/Computerized system validation
  • Able to provide 24/7 standby support based on rotational basis
