Job summary

Alcon is seeking an Associate, Automation & Control Engineering to maintain and provide MES/SCADA and related application support for LS1/DMS Flex Lens manufacturing platform and Chemical Production. You will ensure on-time support and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.

The role requires a Diploma/Bachelor in IT or related engineering, 1–2 years in engineering or manufacturing, and hands-on experience with MES/SCADA, PLC/SCADA/MES systems, and data-driven solutions.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Bachelor in IT, CS or related engineering required.
  • 1–2 years in engineering or manufacturing, preferably in medical device/pharma.
  • Knowledge of MES/SCADA systems and administration.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA/MES, SQL/Oracle/Access, and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first level support for DSMFlex lens manufacturing.
  • Operate and maintain LS1 Lens manufacturing MES/SCADA and chemical production systems.
  • Implement system changes, enhancements, and bug fixes for MES.
  • Perform routine system/server health checks.
  • Support MES/SCADA projects and document URS, IOQ, and SOP; participate in validation.
  • Investigate NCR, FAA, and customer complaints; liaise with site/global teams.
  • Ensure HSE, GDP, GMP and Alcon policy compliance; support data-driven smart manufacturing.

In this role, a typical day will include:
  • Perform first level support DSMFlex lens manufacturing.
  • LS1 Lens manufacturing, and Chemical production MES and SCADA system operation and maintenance.
  • Perform system change, enhancement and bug fixes for MES system.
  • Maintain and perform routine system/server health check.
  • Support the MES/SCADA related project, develop/review project document including URS, IOQ protocol and SOP, perform computer system validation.
  • Conduct investigation for non-conformance (NCR), Field Action Assessment (FAA) and participate in customer complaints investigation.
  • Liaison with site, global and regional Alcon to ensure good working relationship.
  • Ensure HSE, GDP, GMP and Alcon Corporation policy compliance maintained.
  • Support data driven smart manufacturing initiative.
What You'll Bring to Alcon
  • Diploma/Bachelor in IT, Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
  • 1-2 years of experience in engineering or manufacturing industries, preferably in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experiences in Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Supervisory Control Automation and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
  • Sound technical problem-solving skills with experience in advanced manufacturing equipment engineering.
  • Hands on knowledge on automation engineering, PLC/SCADA/MES systems, Microsoft SQL/Oracle/Access database, Microsoft Visual Basic/C#/ASP.net/Python programming and IT (Infrastructure and Network).
  • Good communication skills and able to lead a team.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11 (computerized system validation) is preferred.
  • Skilled in software application development, scripting, and database programming (SQL), with the ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted technologies to streamline design, coding, and troubleshooting.
