Job description

We are currently looking for an Associate level lawyer with between 1-5 years’ post qualification experience to join the Firm’s renowned construction practice with a particular focus on construction disputes, litigation and arbitration. Most of the projects are on a large scale and have a high profile within the local and international construction sector. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with Partner Eugene Tan, who is consistently recognised by Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a leading Partner in Construction and is known for his vast experience in construction disputes and arbitration. You will be joining a well-established and highly regarded team, trusted by top tier clients for their technical excellence and commercial acumen. As part of our continued strategic expansion in the Asia Pacific region, and a commitment to developing a regionally-focused market‑leading construction practice, we are seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join our construction practice based in Singapore. While construction disputes experience is preferred, we also welcome candidates with strong general commercial disputes backgrounds, particularly those with an interest in developing expertise in construction and infrastructure work. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking a dynamic and global platform to further develop their career, legal skills and leadership/business development skills, whilst working as part of a collaborative and close‑knit team of industry experts.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the Partners and other team members on a range of complex and large-scale matters
  • Manage own caseload of both non‑contentious and contentious construction and arbitration matters
  • Research, review and draft documentation including contracts and projects documents, opinions, advice and correspondence
  • Engage with clients, taking instructions, preparing updates, and contributing to strategy discussions
  • Prepare for and participate in business development‑related activities and initiatives
  • Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and trainees (for mid‑level candidates with higher PQE).
Candidate Profile
  • Between 1-5 years’ post-qualification experience acting for and advising clients
  • Suitable candidates with strong academic results and must be qualified to practise in Singapore
  • Experience in commercial litigation, mediation, adjudication and arbitration.
  • Construction experience is preferred but strong candidates with general commercial disputes experience will be considered
  • Will ideally have exposure to, or experience working on cross‑border disputes (not essential)
  • Interest or exposure to front end construction and commercial work is an advantage (not essential)
  • Strong drafting skills and excellent attention to detail in producing high quality work
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills commensurate with level, with ability to assess and articulate legal and risk issues clearly
  • Self‑motivated and proven ability to work as part of a team with limited supervision, managing tasks and receiving feedback at pace
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (All) and networking ability (eg at SA level).
