WHAT YOU WILL DO…
In this role as aPostdoctoral Fellow,AI/ML for Tissue Analytics,you willwork atthe intersection of AI/ML, pathology,and biomedical researchto develop innovative analytical capabilitiesand apply them to important biomedical and translational research challenges.You will contribute to a research-driven environment with industry-leadingexpertisewhile generatingbothmethodological advances and biological insightsthat can help shape futureapproaches to biomarker discovery anddrugdevelopment. A key expectation of thisfellowshipis thedissemination of scientific advances throughpeer-reviewed publications and presentations at leading scientific conferences.
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Designing,building,validating,anddeployinginnovative AI/MLmodels for tissue analyticsand computational pathology,to analyse digitalpathologyandtissue imagingdatafrom preclinical and clinical studies.
- Developingand implementing advanced machine learningmethodologies, including foundation models, multimodal learning approaches, and other emerging AI techniques, toextractbiological insights from complex datasets andadvancenext-generation tissue analyticscapabilities.
- Formulating scientific hypotheses,designingand executing computational studies, and interpreting AI/ML findings in the context of disease biology, biomarker discovery,and therapeutic development.
- Evaluatingand advancingemerging advances in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital pathology,including foundation models and generative AI,identifyingopportunities tostrengtheninternal scientific and analytical capabilities.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams spanning data science, pathology, biology, and translational research, as well as external collaborators and technology partnerswhereappropriate.
- Disseminatingscientificand technical advancesthrough presentations, technical reports, project proposals, peer-reviewed publications, and scientific conferences.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE…
- PhD degreein Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Computational Biology, Physics, or a related discipline.
- Track recordof scientific publicationsin peer-reviewed journals and/or presentations at leading scientific conferences,demonstratingthe ability to independently drive research from concept through dissemination.
- Strong background in machine learning and deep learning, including foundation models, representation learning, multimodal learning, generative AI, transformers, self-supervised learning, and related state-of-the art approaches.Experience developing AI/ML models for medical imaging, computational pathology, computer vision, biomedical research, or related domains is highly desirable.Familiarity with emerging AI paradigms such as agentic AI systems and AI-assisted scientific workflows, would beadvantageous.
- Hands-on experience in scientific programming and machine learning development, including Pythonandmachine learning frameworks such asPyTorch, TensorFlow, and scikit-learn. Experience with cloud computing,ML engineering, model deployment, and scalable AI workflows usingplatforms such as AWS (e.g., SageMaker), Databricks, or equivalent environmentswould beadvantageous.
- Experience with digital pathology, tissue imaging, computational pathology, spatial biology,or related biomedical data modalities.Familiarity with image analysis techniques such as image segmentation, registration, feature extraction, representation learning and image processing using OpenCV, ITK,SimpleITK, or similar frameworks is highly desirable.Experience with digital pathology platforms and image analysis software,such as HALO,QuPath,Visiopharm, or equivalent platforms would beadvantageous.
- Knowledge ofdisease biology(e.g.,neuroscience, cardiometabolic, immunological, or otherrelated therapeuticareas)would beadvantageous. More importantly, a strong interest in understanding disease biology and applying computational approaches to address challenges in biomedical research and pharmaceutical drug discovery is expected.
- Scientific curiosity, creativity, and a passion for innovation, with a demonstrated interest in developing novel analytical methodologies and applying them to answer important biological and translational research questions.
- Interest in bridging methodological innovation with real-world biomedical applications, translating computational advances into biological insights and scientific impact.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment while independently driving research projects and managing multiple priorities and timelines.
