Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Water Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of a desalination plant mounted on water tankers. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the shipboard engineering team to ensure efficient and effective plant operations, maintain water quality standards, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.


Key Responsibilities:


Operation Support:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operation of the desalination plant, including monitoring system performance and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in collection and analysis of plant data and parameters.

Maintenance Duties:

  • Periodically to board the water tankers to perform routine maintenance on desalination equipment, pumps, and filtration systems.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance checks to ensure optimal functioning of the plant.

Water Quality Management:

  • Monitor and analyze water quality parameters to ensure compliance with local and regulatory standards.
  • Collect and test water samples for chemical and biological analysis.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain the Water Safety & Sampling Plan.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of plant operations, maintenance activities, and incidents.
  • Prepare reports as required by senior management regarding plant performance and maintenance schedules.

Health and Safety:

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations in operating and maintaining plant facilities.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the senior engineering staff in the implementation of process improvements and upgrades.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution.

Qualifications:


Education & Experience:

  • Diploma in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Previous experience in operating or maintaining water treatment or desalination systems is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of desalination processes, including reverse osmosis and various pre-treatment techniques.
  • Familiarity with water quality testing methods and standards.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work on a water tanker and in various outdoor environments.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
