Job summary

A leading hotel group in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Engineering. In this role, you will ensure compliance with engineering standards across properties, manage energy initiatives, and support pre-opening activities for new hotels. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in engineering, preferably with electrical exposure, and a Certified Energy Manager qualification. This position offers the opportunity to lead critical engineering operations and innovations within the hospitality sector.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in the engineering sector.
  • Strong preference for candidates with prior electrical engineering exposure.
  • Prior experience in the corporate hospitality industry is an advantage.

Assistant Vice President, Engineering, We Rely On You To

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update core manuals: Engineering Services, Fire Life Safety, Loss Prevention, Crisis Management, and Best Practices, including Audit and Pre-opening Documentation
  • Ensure hotel compliance with manuals and recommend improvements
  • Oversee implementation of Energy and Maintenance Management Guidelines across properties
  • Conduct periodic audits of mechanical and electrical systems per SLIM standards
  • Drive adoption of SLIM Engineering initiatives
  • Coordinate structured training with SLIM-HR for engineering succession planning
  • Develop and refine M&E Design Standards, briefing materials, and system criteria
  • Support hotels in reviewing and approving M&E concepts and feasibility studies
  • Monitor industry trends and recommend innovations for new developments
  • Conduct site inspections, report progress, and flag M&E concerns
  • Represent Engineering in project coordination meetings
  • Lead pre-opening support for new and renovated hotels, including HEOS setup and staffing
  • Provide feedback and solutions during design and construction phases
  • Oversee Testing & Commissioning, Fire Life Safety Clearance, and defect rectification
  • Ensure smooth execution of soft and grand openings
  • Conduct post-opening reviews to ensure operational compliance and resolve project issues
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in the engineering sector, with a strong preference for candidates with prior electrical engineering exposure
  • Possession of a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue opportunities for bulk procurement of materials, tools, plant, and equipment, and to support the finalisation of related arrangements
  • Commitment to consistently uphold and implement group-wide quality certification standards, including but not limited to ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001, LEED, and Green Building protocols
  • Prior experience in the corporate hospitality industry will be considered an advantage
