An established industry player in the energy sector is seeking a dedicated Operations Engineer to ensure safe and efficient operations of a Combined Cycle Power Station. This role involves collaborating with a dynamic team to implement modern operational practices and maintain compliance with safety and environmental standards. Assist the Shift Manager to ensure safe shift operation of the assigned plant, manage non-operating activities, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on operating requirements to facilitate smooth power plant operations in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Become a proactive member of the Station Team.
Support the Shift Charge Engineer, Principal Shift Charge Engineer, and Operations Manager to meet contractual, technical, and commercial operational requirements of the Power Station.
Contribute to long-term Station planning in liaison with relevant Managers.
Assist in implementing modern Operation & Maintenance practices, tools, and techniques for safe, reliable, and efficient Power Station operation, and fully utilize all contractual energy, fuel, and utility supply agreements.
Act as Senior Authorized Person (SAP) in preparing, reviewing, and issuing Permit To Work (PTW).
Support the team during plant emergency situations and abnormal conditions.
Assist operation team to comply with PSO/SPPG/NGCC requirements and procedures.
Support SCE/PSCE to ensure plant load output aligns with Trader dispatch schedules.
Establish and implement mandatory O&M policies and procedures to meet all Station, company, and legislative requirements.
Manage, monitor, and control plant process operation from the control room DCS.
Utilize the CMMS fully to record all operation activities and experiences, ensuring compliance with station, legislative, and company policies.
Assist in implementing a Quality Management System applicable to the Power Station.
Help implement and manage all Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
Participate in training both on and off-site, including training others as required.
Comply with all company and legislative health requirements relevant to duties and responsibilities.
Undertake additional duties as deemed necessary by the Operations Manager, PSCE, and SCE.
Perform other duties reasonably requested by your immediate supervisor or department head.
A Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering is preferred. Candidates with Diploma or NITEC qualifications and substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
Minimum 6 years of experience as a Lead Technical Officer or Operations Engineer in Power Station Operations on a CCPP.
Solid understanding and experience of Combined Cycle Power Station operations.
Good understanding of Power Station commercial operation strategies in a deregulated electricity market, with familiarity in CCPP and Cogeneration performance analysis and optimization.
General understanding of Power Station engineering design and construction. Prior involvement in the technical and maintenance aspects of Gas Turbines, including erection, commissioning, and initial start-up of modern Power Stations, is valuable.
Strong safety mindset with extensive knowledge of modern Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
Strong team-player skills with the ability to lead a specialist shift team and manage personnel during critical plant outage periods.
