Job description

The Statistics Unit at SingHealth plays a crucial role in driving data-informed decision-making across our healthcare system. We transform complex healthcare data into actionable insights, supporting strategic planning and operational excellence.

We are seeking a skilled professional to support the organisation in driving a wide range of statistical activities to meet the information needs of Senior Management and other internal stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Conducting in-depth data analysis to uncover trends, generate actionable insights, and deliver easy-to-digest reports and strategic summaries for Senior Management and stakeholders.
  2. Designing and producing useful self-service data reports for organisation-wide sharing, promoting their use, and guiding users on how to interpret and use the data.
  3. Managing routine and ad-hoc data requests from relevant government bodies and internal stakeholders, supervising junior team members and directly processing requests as needed.
  4. Playing a key role in the building, enhancement, and maintenance of Data Warehouses (DWs). This includes leading and managing DWs enhancement projects, guiding the team in standardising data items, harmonising data extraction criteria across SingHealth institutions, mapping Institution codes to Cluster codes, and working with SingHealth institutions and/or IT to resolve data quality issues.
  5. Collecting, organising, and maintaining useful data not captured in the DWs. Designing and maintaining efficient, well-structured databases to store and manage data outside of the DWs. Using software tools and/or writing programming scripts to extract, transform and integrate data from various data sources.
  6. Building and strengthening partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support the Unit's data initiatives and projects.
  7. Supporting the organisation in strategic planning, budgeting, and overseeing the Unit's daily operations.

Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree preferably in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  2. At least 6 years of relevant working experience in areas relating to data management, statistics or data warehouse.
  3. Experience in machine learning will be an advantage.
  4. Experienced in the end-to-end data analytics workflow, from gathering and preparing data to analysis, results interpretation, using effective data visualisations to present findings and insights, and delivering bite-sized reports and strategic summaries.
  5. Proficient with at least one programming language, preferably Microsoft Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), STATA, Python and/or R.
  6. Proficient with Microsoft applications (Access, Excel, PowerPoint).
  7. Proficiency with Tableau and Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) will be advantageous.
  8. Strong logical thinking, analytical and quantitative reasoning skills.
  9. Excellent problem-solving skills and proven ability to think systematically and solve complex problems.
  10. Strong communication skills with ability to articulate, write and present complex data insights to stakeholders in a concise manner.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills and able to lead and work with staff of all levels.
  12. Meticulous and independent team player with strong organisational and people management skills.
  13. Resourceful and highly adaptable in rapidly changing environment.
