About the role

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Retail Manager to join our team at Popular Book Company. In this full-time, on-site role, you will be responsible in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our retail store in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a key leadership role within our fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve maximum results and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitor inventory levels, ensure timely stock replenishment, and oversee the return cycle.
  • Continuously improve work procedures and operations while ensuring accurate paperwork handling.
  • Take charge and provide necessary supervision during stock takes and random count exercises.
  • Oversee and manage the opening and closing of the store, including banking daily sales.
  • Effectively manage store manpower and scheduling to optimize performance.
  • Participate in budget planning and ensure financial targets are met.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by your superior.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum Diploma with 3 years of experience in a retail management or supervisory role, preferably within the related field
  • Strong customer service orientation and the ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook.
  • A passion for the retail industry and a keen eye for visual merchandising
  • Flexibility to work retail hours, weekends and public holidays as required
