Job description

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), which is under the College of Engineering, aspires to be a leading school for Sustainable Urban Systems. Currently, it has over 50 faculty members and more than 1,500 students, and is rapidly expanding its range of educational and research activities. Its faculty has led major university-wide strategic research thrusts in space creation, water research and sustainable built environment. Moving forward, CEE is addressing critical problems in urban systems such as building structures and energy systems, sustainability of urban cities, and resiliency to natural and unnatural risks.

To fuel further development, we invite applications for an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) position in Geotechnical Engineering.

Applicants would need to possess PhD in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with strong interdisciplinary expertise in areas such as soil mechanics, underground construction, soil improvement, instrumentation, monitoring, numerical analysis, Geoenvironmental engineering, as well as using the latest technologies such as AI, digitalization, data analytics, zero carbon and emerging geomaterials. Applicants who are competent to teach first- and second-year undergraduate basic courses for Civil Engineering such as Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Computing and Mathematics will be considered favourably. Candidates would also need to demonstrate strong and relevant teaching ability and strong communication skills. Applicants with industry experience will have an added advantage.
