Position Summary
The Infectious Diseases Translational Research Program (IDTRP) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We seek an exceptional individual to develop and lead a research program in infectious diseases, focusing on translational research that bridges fundamental discoveries and clinical applications.
The ideal candidate should have expertise in microbial interactions inside the gut and their impact on health and disease. The successful applicant will join a collaborative team dedicated to advancing understanding, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases (https://medicine.nus.edu.sg/trp/infectious-diseases).
Key Responsibilities
- Establish an independent, externally funded research program in infectious diseases with an emphasis on translational approaches.
- Conduct cutting-edge research contributing to IDTRP’s goals, including vaccine development, antimicrobial resistance, pathogen-host interactions, and public health interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including clinicians, scientists, and stakeholders.
- Mentor and supervise undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers.
- Teach microbiology or immunology courses at undergraduate and graduate levels within the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.
- Publish high-quality, peer-reviewed research and present at conferences.
- Participate actively in IDTRP’s events, workshops, and outreach activities.
Qualifications
Essential:
- PhD, MD, or equivalent in microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, or related fields.
- Proven research excellence with high-impact first-author publications.
- Potential to secure external funding.
- Expertise in translational research methodologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Desirable:
- Experience in teaching and curriculum development.
- Mentoring research trainees.
- Research experience in tropical infectious diseases or global health.
- Knowledge of regulatory and ethical requirements for translational research.
