Job Description
The Art History Minor is one of the top ranked programme in the field internationally and is housed in the Department of History, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS). The Minor and its sister Visual Cultures Minor (Department of Communications and New Media) are articulated with the Visual Arts and Cultures Second Major (Department of English, Linguistics and Theatre Studies) to form the VAC triptych of interdisciplinary programmes working with art institutions including the National Gallery of Singapore and NUS Museum for students interested in the broad field.
NUS College (NUSC) is the honours college of the National University of Singapore. Our focus is a rigorous and stimulating interdisciplinary education designed to help students cultivate the necessary skills to work effectively and creatively across boundaries. Housed in NUS College, the Creative Practice Programme attends to the creative interests and needs of the student population in University Town and is committed to further collaboration with other NUS departments such as the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, NUS Museum, and Centre for the Arts on creative programming and events, ensuring continuity and synergies within NUS.
Aligned with NUS's mission to educate and transform, and our commitment to develop a vibrant community of students who possess creative skills and thinking, FASS VAC invites applications for Assistant/Associate Professorship of Art History, a full-time tenure-track faculty position, jointly appointed with NUSC as the Georgette Chen Fellow. The Fellowship comes with a generous annual research grant.
The fellowship is supported by the Georgette Chen Trust, named after one of Singapore's most famous painters of the 20th century. Chen was a pioneer of modern Singaporean art and the Nanyang style of art in the region, as well as a respected art educator for 27 years and a Cultural Medallion recipient.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design and teach 3 courses across the academic year: 2 Art History courses and 1 creative course at NUSC;
• Advising creative projects as part of the Impact Experience programme (2-year capstone) at NUSC;
• Participate in organisation of the Impact Festival;
• Participate in the transfer of knowledge within the university community, either through presentations, workshops, and/or lectures.
Qualifications
• Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent qualification in the arts or any arts-related discipline at the point of application;
• At least two years of teaching experience in higher education, with evidence of expertise in the teaching of the arts or arts-related disciplines;
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates expertise in the arts, preferably with an active curatorial practice and experience in international and public programming for the visual arts (including time-based, photo-media and hybrid art forms).
