Job Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites talented academics with excellent research track records in science, technology, and engineering to apply for appointments as NUS Presidential Young Professors.

We seek exceptionally talented candidates who will develop the next generation of solutions to sustainability challenges and demonstrate excellence in system-level thinking. Relevant research topics include but are not limited to:

  1. Climate change mitigation and adaptation
  2. Digital and smart technology
  3. Smart and livable cities
  4. Environmental protection and sustainability
  5. Offshore and ocean infrastructures
  6. Resilient urban systems

Successful candidates will receive:

  • A tenure-track position with an attractive salary package as an assistant professor at NUS
  • Up to SGD 1 million in start-up research grant + scholarships to hire PhD students
  • An award of SGD 250,000 in white space funding
  • An opportunity to compete for the Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellowship, which provides a five-year research grant of up to SGD 3 million

Qualifications

Applicants should have or be completing a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a related field, with preferably teaching and post-doctoral research experience. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae with a full publication list, statements of research and teaching interests and plans (each maximum 3 pages), and the names of three referees via the NUS Career portal.
