Job Description
  • Position: Assistant Production Manager (Marine & Shipyard)
  • Well Established Singapore Based Marine & Offshore MNC
  • Working Hours: Monday - Friday (7:30am - 5:00pm)
  • Salary (commensurate with experience): Up to $7,200 + Variable Bonus
  • Working Location: Tuas

Main Responsibilities:
  • Effective delegation and control of resources for optimum productivity.
  • Read and understand technical specifications; prepare job lists, work schedules, material take-offs, and manpower planning for yard personnel and contractors for each assigned job. Provide early warnings to the Commercial and Production Managers regarding potential technical or manpower challenges for all repairs or projects.
  • Review and approve materials as per the material take-off, and coordinate with the Purchasing Department to ensure timely delivery.
  • Prepare forecasts for manpower loading and material arrivals, including facility requirements.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Commercial, Subcontracting, and other trades to establish appropriate procedures and schedules for job completion.
  • Represent the department in daily production, operations, and management meetings. Attend periodic meetings with clients to address engineering clarifications and technical queries.
  • Ensure safety, discipline, identification of training needs, and the welfare of all subordinates.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, company, quality, environmental, occupational health, and safety standards and procedures.
  • Plan, implement, and demonstrate continual improvement in health and safety, quality, environment, and productivity.
  • Liaise and coordinate with regulatory bodies, clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments to meet requirements within commercial and operational constraints.
  • Ensure company and project milestones, as well as commercial controls, are achieved through effective planning, logistics, and execution.
  • Ensure optimum work processes and equipment utilization; generate, control, and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Minimize material wastage; ensure all surplus materials are accounted for and returned to the store at the end of the project.
  • Prepare and review departmental documents (e.g., RA, SOPs, internal & external audits, ORs).
  • Ensure the Permit-to-Work system is strictly followed by all staff.
  • Ensure all work completion reports are submitted in a timely manner by the ship in-charge.
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by the Production Manager.
  • Promote a culture of good housekeeping and safety across all vessels and workshops. Ensure all workers follow safe work procedures.

Requirements:
  • Minimum Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in the Marine industry / Shipyard environment.
