Job description

Job Role Description:

The Assistant Merchandiser plays a key supporting role in the planning, execution, and evaluation of merchandising and logistics functions. This role is responsible for assisting in managing product assortments, monitoring inventory and stock levels, coordinating with suppliers, and supporting the implementation of merchandising strategies and marketing activities.

Additionally, the Assistant Merchandiser supports logistics operations by assisting with purchase orders, sample requisitions, shipping cost evaluations, and stock tracking to ensure timely and efficient product movement.

This job responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:

Category Management and Product Assortments

- Implement product category’s private label’s and/or house brand’s product range and assortment plans, pricing and promotional plan.

- Analyse product sales, stock turnover rate and inventory level

- Analyse customers’ feedback on product categories

- Review private label and/or house brand product quality

- Introduction and proper training to all staff for new brand or product

Product Sourcing

- Consolidate information to forecast merchandise demand

- Contribute to merchandise and material sourcing

- Analyse information on target segment

- Analyse cost of merchandise

Merchandising Strategies

- Provide inputs to formulate merchandising strategies

- Analyse information on business environment and merchandising landscape

- Ensure all merchandising strategies are followed through at all levels

Manage Shopper Marketing Activities

- Analyse information on shoppers’ profiles and implement shopper promotional plans

- Measure effectiveness of change in visual merchandising displays

- Ensure effectiveness of marketing activities, mechanics and collaterals from sell-through reports and post-mortems, surveys

- Track data on campaign effectiveness for analysis

- Support activities to create awareness and triggers in the shopping cycle for all marketing activities

Manage Partner Relationships

- Maintain business partnerships

- Organise relevant information for negotiations with partners

- Provide feedback on quality and effectiveness of partnership

Perform Cargo Handling and/ or Logistics Delivery Overall Critical Tasks

- Review methods and techniques to better manage time and temperature-sensitive cargo

- Manage resources to ensure cargo-handling schedules are met

- Plan measures for calculating operational efficiency, utilisation and productivity

- Evaluate and plan cargo consolidation solutions to optimise space, cost and efficiency

- Evaluate cargo handling schedules that consider timeline and resource factors

- Track and manage cargo-handling schedules to ensure timely execution and delivery

Perform Business Continuous Improvement Activities

- Review business processes improvement solutions to determine effectiveness

- Evaluate technology solutions and automations to improve processes

- Coordinate activities to improve quality of logistics services

- Regularly, request for quotations e.g. quarterly or half yearly on shipping and transportation costs to evaluate the business costs

Additional Support Tasks

- Assist in inputs for merchandising reports e.g., Purchases Summary, Sales, Inventory, etc…

- Assist in creating purchase orders

- Assist in requisition of samples & tasting stocks for staff trainings and events

Requirements:

· Minimum 1-2 years of related field.

· Experience in retail or F&B industry and proficient in MS Excel will be added advantage.

· Good interpersonal & communication skills

· Well organized, good team player & willing to learn
